Product Management at Mercari

The product manager is in charge of fulfilling this highly important role, as he/she is the person who defines what kind of value the product should have, and ensures that the expected value is delivered to the users. This involves discovering and addressing users’ potential needs as well as emerging issues. In order to handle such a comprehensive role, you will need skills in finding issues with engineering and the customer experience, along with analyzing and creating UI/UX solutions. You will also need people management skills as you will be expected to communicate with a variety of people like engineers, marketers, new business owners, and data analysts to handle projects. Because Mercari is a CtoC marketplace used by both buyers and sellers, it is important to understand the wide range of perspectives involved. Mercari’s Product Management Team does not settle for existing methods or familiar technology. This is a team that makes bold moves to contribute to the product’s growth.

The Mercari app has grown into a service used by more than 20.00 million people every month, but still has enormous potential. There are over 36 million people in Japan who know of Mercari and are interested in listing items. Product Managers are the ones in charge of planning the next steps for this large-scale, high-potential service. The planning and execution involved in this position will be challenging, but will allow you to leave a major impact on the world.
