The Mercari marketplace app has grown into a service used by more than 20.00 million people each month, but our goal is to “Circulate all forms of value to unleash the potential in all people.” At Mercari, we believe that in order for our service to evolve beyond Japan and be used worldwide, we need to not just choose the best technology and system environments, but to create and provide them from scratch.

Micro Decision

Taking ownership, making decisions, and taking action in an evolving organization

Mercari’s Corporate Engineering Team needs to adapt to change, and allow everyone to take ownership in order to make decisions autonomously. Everyone is able to put their ideas into practice and test them, so that we can deliver the best experience to both our users and the people working with us. This is what we call “micro-decisions”. We believe that trying things many times increases our chances of success and, in turn, promotes the growth of our teams and their members.
