Learning and development

At Mercari, we believe that continuous learning is a key element of personal and business growth. With this in mind, Mercari promotes different opportunities to maximize growth by combining three approaches: on-the-job experience, feedback, and off-the-job learning.

As part of off-the-job learning, Mercari offers different in-house training programs and learning tools. All Mercari employees are encouraged to make use of these opportunities, taking ownership of their self-improvement and continuously looking for ways to apply their knowledge.

Mercari’s Learning & Development Team (L&D Team) is dedicated to providing internal training and growth opportunities to all employees. In addition, L&D also offers internal coaching and career guidance to ensure adequate support for employees to work toward their individual career goals.

  • Mercari R4D PhD Support Program

    The Mercari R4D Ph.D. Support Program is a system that supports employees in obtaining doctorate degrees with the purpose of fostering career development and investing in human resources to spark innovation. This program provides:

  • Full tuition support (estimating up to 2 million yen per year) for programs at institutions in Japan
  • Options for employees to set their own working hours (between 0 and 5 days per week) to balance work and research as necessary
  • Other support

    Mercari also provides self-development materials and resources to all employees to facilitate learning at all levels. By combining formal training and self-development resources, we aim to empower our employees to take ownership and develop the skills necessary for their work. At the same time, we encourage all of our employees to make use of internal resources to share their knowledge and skills, fostering a culture of mutual learning.
